From Small Farmer to Oil Unit Owner

Piyush Kumar was once a seasonal farmer earning barely ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month. He joined Meghdootam’s outreach program and was supported to buy a used mustard oil unit and filter. With technical guidance, market linkages, and access to a subsidy-linked loan, Piyush’s income increased to ₹15,000 per month. He now has consistent income throughout the year, beyond agriculture. Recently, he received 35% subsidy on a ₹5 lakh loan and is setting up a larger upgraded processing unit. Piyush has transformed from a dependent farmer to a self-driven rural entrepreneur — and is helping others find work along the way.
